PAX: The World’s Most Sophisticated Cannabis Vaporizer

PAX Labs is the leader in premium cannabis vaporizer technology, revolutionizing the consumer experience through innovation and product design. After a recent rebrand of their corporate identity, PAX came to Enlisted for help in creating a physical and visual manifestation of their new brand in four new products. The intent was to provide clearer information for both retailers and users while reinforcing the position PAX holds as the most premium and connected vaping device available.

CHALLENGE

Stand out and streamline

With the vaporizer market becoming more fragmented with new entrants in the space, PAX wanted to upgrade the current packaging so the quality of the product and brand stands out amongst competitors. This involved creating a visual design that introduced a distinguished product rendering style across all products to convey the same level of premium quality at each price point.

In addition to the visual upgrades, the copy also needed to be refreshed. Not simply a matter of updating a few words, this project involved reworking the layout to incorporate more content in the same amount of space. PAX wanted a simple solution for updating the often-changing regulatory information as necessary, as well as providing all information in seven languages to streamline global distribution.

APPROACH

Rely on the research

In order to understand how people interact with the packaging, we went directly to the source. We conducted important research with PAX users and customer service agents to understand their complaints and frustrations navigating the current packaging and product. In addition, we completed a competitive audit to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of rivals in the market.

With data in-hand, the Enlisted team went to work to address the feedback and create viable solutions. We took our primary research data, as well as the PAX brand style guide, and developed a range of ideas in collaboration with the PAX team.

RESULTS 

Premium functionality

The resulting packages retained the same premium aesthetic, but make the onboarding process far more user-friendly. The Enlisted team created illustrations showing how to properly use and maintain the product, and the instructions provide greater context for each step. And in delivering on the primary request at the outset, we were able to achieve a consistent brand presence across all geographic regions with a design that portrays PAX as a leading brand in the cannabis vaporizer market.
